Our schedule at work has been rough lately and it is only going to get worse. We had another guy retire on Thursday so we are officially down 4 people. This past week I only had Friday off and won’t be off until next Friday. Working night shift, it is really difficult to have only 1 night off because the first day is all about re-cooperating and then it’s time to go back to work.
What did I do on my day off? Not a whole bunch! I didn’t even clean that much. I met up with my brother-in-law’s girlfriend for her lunch break and…that’s it! I sat around, watched tv, browsed pinterest, and relaxed.
It’s nice to have these down time weekends once in a while. Now…back to work tonight. Even though it’s Saturday, the weekend is over for me.
Hope y’all enjoy your weekend!!
Tonight we are having a potluck at work to celebrate a coworker’s retirement. We are sad to see him go but excited that he will be able to relax and enjoy retirement.
He is a very healthy eater and we wanted to customize things for him but also for the entire group. He asked for salad, wheat pasta with marinara, fruit, and wheat bread. I decided to bring the fruit.
I bought 2 lbs of strawberries and bag of grapes. HE will enjoy the fresh fruit, but I also wanted something that would encourage the other workers to eat the fruit so I wanted to make a cream cheese fruit dip. I wanted to work with ingredients so I made the following dip.
Brown Sugar Cream Cheese Fruit Dip
1-8 oz package of cream cheese
3/4 cup of brown sugar
1 1/4 tsp of vanilla extract
It’s delicious! And…it got the Hubby’s approval! Enjoy!
I used coupons yesterday!
Yep! COUPONS! I haven’t cut or used a coupon in years now. When I was in college I used them all the time and saved drastically on my monthly household items bill. Well, yesterday I finally used coupons. It gave me that same thrill of a good find like I used to.
So, what was my re-inaugural coupon purchase?
I went to Target and this week they have a pretty good toilet paper deal.
Cottonelle 12-pk. mega roll- $10.49
If you buy 2 you get a $5 GC to use on a future purchase.
Use 2 of the $2/1 Ultra Comfort Care 12 pk Mega Roll
2 of the $0.50/1 Cottonelle Mega Roll 12 pk or Double Roll 16 pk+ Target coupon Smart Source insert on 6-24-12 (I only had 1)
Overall I paid $16.48 and got a $5 Target GC back for “32”rolls!
(Could be $15.98 if you have 2 $0.50 off coupons)
Pretty good Deal!!
Do y’all coupon? Did you get this or plan on getting this great deal?
We’re HOPING to buy a house!
The Mr. and I have lived together for 2 1/2 years and now that we are married, we would really like to buy a house and stop renting. We’ve done a lot of research and are currently not using a Realtor. We don’t like the idea of committing to one person until we find someone that we really feel has our best interest in their mind. Since we aren’t working with anyone yet, every time we meet to view a home it is also a mini interview to see if we would like to work with them.
We went to view a 3rd house today, but let’s start from the beginning.
The first home was a HUD home that was a HUGE fixer upper. Way too much work for us now. No go.
The second home was really nice, but not for the high price they were asking for it. It looked really nice online, but in person it wasn’t as impressive. And if I’m paying more than I would like to for a home, it better impress me!
So, today…we went to go view the 3rd home. We really liked the area and although the house was smaller than we would like, the area was the selling factor. We went at 3pm to view the home. Well, we thought we were going to view the home. We actually just got to view the outside of the home for 30 minutes since the agent NEVER showed up. Mind you…we went early so that we could scope out the neighborhood a little beforehand. Forty-five minutes later, we left. We called her cell phone twice and the office once and never heard back from ANY of them. The whole situation was just completely unprofessional. It’s actually unfathomable that they could stay in business if they work their business this way. I mean…this is their job! When we got home I cooled down for an hour because I was still pretty upset and tried to call the office again. The secretary answered and apparently at 4:30 pm they were all gone for the day. I asked if they were out showing and if they would return and she said the were gone. I asked what time they would be in tomorrow and she said 11 am. Really? I know that they don’t have to go in the office that much because most of their job can be done from any computer, but if that is the case, shouldn’t they be picking up their cell phones? Ugh!
Overall, if you are looking for customer service and are in the Houston area DO NOT work with Pathway Real Estate Advisors. The agent that never showed and never returned our calls was Florida Dotson, but based on my experience with the office staff, I wouldn’t work with anyone at this place again. Please, save yourself the trouble!
Hopefully House Shopping will go up from here!

I LOVE to shop! LOVE IT!
We have an area in town called Rice Village which is right around Rice University and it has all of my favorite shops. It also has one of my favorite restaurants so we end up going there quite often even though it’s 25 minutes away.
Well, I met a friend up for brunch this morning and we have fairly similar taste in clothes so after we ate, we went shopping. Shopping…Ugh! Something we just can’t afford to do right now at THOSE stores. It’s not that they are high end, but too high for a newlywed couple who is trying to save for a house. What stores am I talking about? Banana Republic, Express, and White House Black Market (my favorite!). And I walked away with NOTHING!!! Yep! *Pat myself on my back* Absolutely nothing! I was able to contain myself! I was so happy that I came home and had an e-mail from Old Navy for 20% off with the code ONSAVE20 and shopping through Ebates, I bought 5 shirts, a pair of pants, and skirt all for $46!!! This is less than 1 shirt at the other stores we went shopping at today!! And…got $0.84 back via Ebates! (If you haven’t signed up yet…please go! If you shop online AT ALL, you should sign up!)
Living on a “budget” has definitely proven to be challenging, but not nearly as bad as I thought. I’m finding good deals at stores that I wouldn’t have usually shopped at. I know that I’m not going to stay away from the other stores completely, but this was the first time I had walked in to all 3 stores and walked away with nothing. Baby steps!
